New Colour Trend for 2011

Thursday, February 3, 2011

In the Design Business there are various organizations on charge of researching new and innovative materials and deciding the new trends for each year. In the world of colour, we have Pantone.

Pantone is a corporation that developed the Pantone Matching System (PMS), a proprietary system that standardizes the colours used in industries such as printing, paint, fabric, and plastics. Pantone travels all over the world to find new colours and textures that can change tones just enough to give things a whole new feeling.

In 2010, the colour winner was the PANTONE 15-5519 Turquois. In 2011, the award goes to…

PANTONE 18-2120 Honeysuckle

“Energizing Honeysuckle Lifts Spirits and Imparts Confidence to Meet Life’s Ongoing Challenges”.

Honeysuckle is a vibrant, energetic, brave new tone of PINK!

It’s a gorgeous colour that can be used in different environments, at home or at work, in your living room, your kitchen or bedroom. Although it is a new trend, this doesn’t mean you should rush out and paint every single wall on your house using honeysuckle. As a general rule of thumb in the Interior Design Industry: Less is More.

Home Staging: It’s all about first impressions

What is Home Staging?

Home Staging is the process of getting the house ready to be sold. It can be as simple as moving the furniture around that already exists, or as elaborate as creating a new interior design using rental furniture and accessories.

What are the benefits of Home Staging?

1.Sell faster, buyers know within the first 30 seconds they are in a house if it is going to be their home. Then while walking through the house, they look for signs to support their initial feeling.

Most staged homes sell on average in one month or less. Homes that were staged spent 80% less time on the market than those that were not staged. It should also be considered that market, location, price, and condition all play a role in the successful sale of a home and these statistics would reflect a not only carefully planned staging but also strong pricing.

It's easier for Realtors to show and sell their buyers a staged home because they know the property will be in spotless condition. Realtors are often more prone to attend broker open houses because staging creates a buzz and excitement in the industry. Thus increasing showings.

2.Get top dollar, Staged homes receive a 3-6% increase on their equity versus unstaged homes in the GTA. Making it easier to turn a profit and enjoy the benefits!

Capture the moment with upwards of 75% of Toronto home buyers going to the internet first, you can’t afford to leave your home in “as-is” condition. By creating an ‘ideal home’ it will appeal to a broader range of potential buyers.

Staged homes often appraise at a higher value.

3.Easier to visualize potential home, Only 10% of buyers can visualize the potential of a home. That means 90% of buyers cannot visualize size and scale. They need furnishings in place to give them a frame of reference. Professional Staging attracts the eye and creates a psychological appeal that draws buyers away from the negatives of a home and puts the focus on the positives.

Pictures and virtual tours are more attractive when staged. Powerful pictures will attract more buyers to a home when placed on the MLS.

4.Home Staging is Affordable, The small investment in Staging your home or condo can gain you thousands of dollars when you sell your home.

In a buyer's market staging your home is key to selling for top dollar and in the shortest possible time. When competition is high and buyers are looking for value you must show them how they could live in the space and give them every reason to fall in love with your house.

At Casahonda Design Inc. we understand that your time is your most valuable asset and want to help you minimize your listing time and maximize the selling price of your property by professionally staging your home.

Colour is an important part of our lives, people use colour everyday. Colour has a great influence on human behavior and if you are thinking about decorating and painting a room, you should be aware of the impact different colours can have on our mood. Welcome

Welcome to the Casahonda Design Blog.

I decided to create this space to share one of my great passions with you, interior design! I will share projects I’ve worked on as well as ideas and tips for creating functional and beautiful places to live and/or work in.

To me, Interior Design goes beyond decorating a room, painting or buying trendy furniture. The space we live/work in is a reflection of who we are. If we want to be positive, organized, studious, etc... we need to create places that mirror those feelings. Therefore it is very important to take into account many factors, including psychology, geography, history, architecture, fashion, culture and traditions of the users for the space.

To create a good interior design, we have to analyze social factors, fashion trends and art because, after all, creating an ideal space that reflects who we are and who we want to be is an artform. These are some of my thoughts on Interior Design, I would like to know yours!
